đź‘Ą Who This Course Is For
This class is designed for students who have completed Beginner Tagalog (levels 1–2) or equivalent. You should already be familiar with basic sentence patterns, common verbs in the actor-focus form, and present/past/future tenses. This is the perfect next step for learners who can speak in simple sentences and want to build longer conversations, ask questions, and navigate everyday life in Tagalog with more ease.
📖 What You’ll Learn
In this high beginner course, you’ll expand your speaking, listening, and comprehension skills through practical, everyday topics. We’ll begin moving beyond memorized phrases into short dialogues and conversational exchanges. Grammar will be introduced as needed to support real-life communication.
🌍 Themes and Topics May Include:
Shopping, dining out, and daily routines
Asking for directions and giving instructions
Describing people, places, and events
Talking about past and future plans
Using polite language and expressions of courtesy

Each class includes:
Structured conversation practice
Thematic vocabulary building
Light reading or listening exercises
Cultural discussion points
Simple review and reinforcement activities

Handle social interactions like introductions and small talk

👩‍🏫 About the Instructor
Joy was born, raised, and educated in the southern Philippines, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in Communication Arts in Filipino. Before moving to the U.S., she worked as a public school language teacher. Since relocating, she has spent over a decade training military personnel and U.S. Foreign Service Officers in Tagalog through language services on the East Coast.\n\nHer work has ranged from curriculum development and government consulting to standardized test creation—all with a passion for clarity, cultural immersion, and real-world application. Joy believes that language is not just a tool for communication, but a gateway to understanding people and the culture they live in.

The class will meet online from July 15th to August 19th.
A minimum of three students is required for the course to run the full six weeks.
If only two students enroll, the course will still take place but will be shortened to five weeks.
