Low Beginner Mandarin Class for Middle and High School Students

This class will meet in person in downtown Berkeley from June 13th to July 25th. There will be no class on July 4th due to holiday.

Our Low Beginner Mandarin Class for Middle and High School Students is ideal for teens who have completed an introductory course or have some basic exposure to the language. With 3–6 students per group, this interactive class helps learners deepen their Mandarin skills while staying engaged and supported.

Students will:

  • Expand vocabulary and learn new everyday phrases

  • Improve pronunciation and fluency using Pinyin

  • Begin reading and writing more Chinese characters (Hanzi)

  • Practice speaking and listening through real-life scenarios

  • Build confidence in forming full sentences and short conversations

  • Explore Chinese culture to enhance language use and understanding

Taught by skilled instructors—most of whom are native speakers with advanced degrees in Chinese language and linguistics—this course bridges the gap between beginner and intermediate proficiency with fun and effective lessons.

All classes are online, accessible to students in Berkeley, San Francisco, Oakland, San Jose, Walnut Creek, Marin, and beyond.
